Marketing Essentials

Marketing and promotion is not typically addressed in the curriculum of most clinical coursework.

This self-study course provides a thorough immersion in marketing methods and strategies related to informing, serving and educating potential patients and clients with an interactive workshop approach that addresses the skills and preparation needed to provide services independently. The course is designed to lead you through the process of creating a working marketing plan that translates into specific action steps as soon as you’re ready to use it.

This course if offered for .60 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area).
ASHA CEUs for this course offering may only be awarded to an individual once per 365 days.


Module 1: Create the Foundation

Assess your own present levels of performance to determine your starting point and personal business goals. Discover traits about your target market segment and ideal clients. Get a better understanding of how competition will affect your efforts. Establish your business identity, and identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that will impact your actions.

Module 2: Create Your Specific Action Plan

Determine your marketing mix, consisting of your place of business, the product package you offer, promotion tactics, and the price for your services. Get specific on the language you use to label the features and benefits of your services. Create a mission statement in five minutes flat, and compliment it with an enticing elevator pitch. Learn the basics of email and internet marketing.

Module 3: Create Momentum

Engage in the marketing cycle. See the plan you created by working through this course and put yourself out in the market.
